Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

DigitalKortex is operated by Cartontech LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), which is the controller of the personal information described here. We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, use our services, or communicate with us. This may include:

  • Name, email address, and other contact information you provide during registration.
  • Account credentials and profile information.
  • Any content or data you submit through our services.
  • Communications you send to us, such as support requests or feedback.

1a. The Early-Access List

If you ask for early access, we keep your email address so we can send you an invitation when one is ready. That is the only reason we keep it, and the only thing we keep — the address, when you asked, and which page you asked from.

You do not have an account yet, so there is nothing to sign in to and delete. Email us at privacy@digitalkortex.com and we will take you off the list.

2. Automatically Collected Information

When you access or use our services, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device information such as browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
  • Log data including IP address, access times, pages viewed, and referring URLs.
  • Usage data about how you interact with our services.
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies as described in our cookie policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services.
  • Process transactions and send related information, including confirmations and receipts.
  • Send technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages.
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and customer service requests.
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our services.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, and customer support.
  • To comply with legal obligations, enforce our agreements, or protect our rights and safety.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where your information may be transferred as a business asset.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

4a. Contacts Left On Someone's Card

A paid card can show a form inviting a visitor to share their own details back. If you fill one in, you are giving your details to the person whose card it is — not to us for our own purposes, and not to any mailing list. We store them on that person's behalf so they appear in their contacts.

  • We record only what you type, plus the time you submitted it and which version of the notice you were shown. No IP address, no device fingerprint, no tracking.
  • The card's owner decides what to do with your details and can delete them at any time. To be removed, ask them — they can do it in one click, and they are the person who holds the record.
  • If that person deletes their DigitalKortex account, every contact they captured is deleted with it.
  • The form is always optional. Saving a card to your phone works without it and asks nothing of you.

4b. Adding Your Card To A Mobile Wallet

You can keep your own card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The two work differently, and the difference is worth knowing before you choose:

  • Apple Wallet. We build and sign the pass ourselves and your device downloads it. Apple is not sent your card, and we do not send Apple anything about you.
  • Google Wallet. The pass is created on Google's servers and stored there against your Google account. Your name, job title, company, the address your code points to, and any details you chose to put on the pass are sent to Google as part of adding it.
  • Either pass carries only what you picked. By default that is your name, title, company and the code — never your phone number or email unless you added them yourself on the wallet page.
  • Removing a pass from your phone is done in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, not here. Deleting your DigitalKortex account stops the code resolving, which makes the pass inert.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. We may also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Request portability of your personal information.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@digitalkortex.com. Export and deletion do not need a request: both are self-serve in your account settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

Our privacy commitments

Beyond what the law requires, these are commitments we have made in our product requirements and hold ourselves to:

  • Export and delete your data yourself. Both are self-serve and GDPR/CCPA compliant. Neither requires a support ticket, and we will not use difficulty of leaving as a retention tactic.
  • No personal data in analytics. Card analytics record views, taps, saves and link clicks. They do not carry personally identifying information about the people who view your card.
  • Consent is explicit. Where a lead-capture form collects someone's details, consent is captured and stored with the record.
  • Your contacts are portable. Export them all to CSV, or any one of them as a vCard, at any time and on any plan. There is no lock-in by design.
  • EU data residency. An in-region storage option for EU users is planned. It is not available yet, and this page will say so until it is.
